At APAA, we offer musical theatre training to students from 7-21+ years. Our goal is to unlock the potential in our students through weekly training sessions in singing, dancing and acting, culminating in a fully produced show at the end of each semester. As well as developing their triple-threat skills, musical theatre training benefits students by increasing their confidence, empathy, compassion, problem-solving skills and perseverance. Plus, students studying performing arts have a higher rate of academic achievement, therefore, musical theatre training aids their all-round development.
Through our training programme, APAA students will flourish as individuals, whilst we feed their imagination and ‘let their talent take flight’!
Students in School Years 5 and above enrol into our Broadway programme. Students in School Years 3 & 4 enrol in our West End programme. All students enrolling in either stream will receive weekly training and will perform in the show at the end of the semester. There is no audition to register – everyone is welcome to join, if space allows, and no experience is necessary.
Students in our Broadway programme will receive intensive musical theatre training, in singing, dancing and acting twice a week. Our Broadway students will have the opportunity to audition for principal/lead/featured roles in the show and the Dance Troupe.
Students in our West End programme receive weekly training in singing, dancing and acting weekly and will perform in the chorus of the show at the end of the semester.
A different fee structure applies to each stream.
Since 2019, APAA has been the North Shore’s premier hub for youth musical theatre. From Grease and Legally Blonde to The Wizard of Oz and The Addams Family, we bring the magic of Broadway straight to Auckland.
